Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
Welcome to the Web Page of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church! I am happy that you have found our site and I hope you find some things of interest as you investigate it. May I suggest a few things?
First and foremost, please come for worship on Sundays at 8:00 and 10:45 am.  Our 8:00 am traditional liturgy follows the 1941 Lutheran Hymnal and is played on the high organ with occasional voice and handbell choirs.  Our 10:45 am service is a lively worship experience based on a thematic liturgy with contemporary liturgical music and features a Praise Team and various instruments such as guitar, bass, and drums.  On occasion, our Drama Team will bring to life a sketch that illustrates the lessons of the day or supports the sermon.  Each week our Director of Christian Education has a children's message that helps to include even the youngest among us in the liturgy.
We celebrate the Holy Eucharist on first, third, and fifth Sunday, as well as all festivals and holy days.  Our Prayer Team is available after all services for those desiring prayer for various needs, especially healing prayer and anointing before surgery.
I am proud that our church is a working hard to become a "neighborhood church" where most of our new members will come from the immediate vicinity. We are enriched with many "intentional" parishioners who come from various parts of Houston, Pasadena, Deer Park, and LaPorte  because they prefer our worship styles and environment, our hospitality, and/or our involvement in social issues such as Interfaith Hospitality Network which ministers to homeless families, our "bread ministry" where we distribute donated baked goods to those in need in the neighborhood, or our ministry among prisoners on Texas' Death Row.
Our congregation is diverse: old, middle-aged, and young, poor and rich. We are a parish in process with many hopes and dreams, struggles and challenges. I am excited by this new prospect as we look at our 50th anniversary in 2006.  May I conclude by encouraging you to come to our church for worship?  I think you will find a welcoming congregation and a quality celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
Peace and all good,
Rev. Steve Stutz
